The secret to communicating in new relationships
In this week’s Tell Your Story Better podcast episode, we explore communication and new relationships. Actor Will Smith posted a video of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith as a young woman. In it, she was talking to rapper Eazy-E about his seemingly woman-hating lyrics. The comments on the post inspired some thoughts in me about how we communicate, particularly with respect to what we want out of our romantic relationships. A number of men commented asking where they could find a woman like Jada. A number of women responded with words similar to, “We’re right here. You all just don’t actually want a strong woman who knows she is…”
The interchanges fascinated me and I thought I would share with you several ideas on how to communicate with potential partners when you’re just starting out.
Podcast Tweetable: If all you’re doing is talking to them, then you’re not really communicating with them.
I’d love to hear from you how you do it. What do you say at the beginning? How much do you listen? How well does it work? Please comment, leave a review, and share this with someone who needs to hear it.
