Fear is an informant.

Fear is an informant. Today’s Show Up! Journal power words: I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about fear lately. Many of us walk around with either small or humongous fears eating away at us every single day.

The reason I think they pick away at our spirits and our motivation is because we give them too much power as our enemy. We make our fears an adversary rather than a secret teammate.

Fear is not the enemy. Fear is trying to tell us something. When we find fear, we find resistance. We often find a denial of our deepest desires and wishes.

Sometimes, that resistance is a good thing. “Don’t walk into that dark alley. You don’t know what’s there,” is a wise fear and concern. So, it’s smart not to do that. Then, fear is giving you useful data. If you are afraid, and you don’t know why, you need to figure out the root of the fear. Is it useful information? Or is it sabotage?

And by the way, it’s not someone else’s sabotage. Usually, if you are afraid to do something that’s good for you, it’s self sabotage. Don’t sabotage your own process. Instead, figure out how to work through it and come out the other side wiser, more knowledgeable, and with a stronger heart.
