Two Tips To Improve Your Elevator Pitch Right Now
Imagine you’re riding from the first to the twelfth floor with your dream client or customer! You have ten to twelve seconds to inspire them to work with you or at least to want to know more. You’ve honed your pitch to be just one or two sentences. And you’re ready anytime you run across someone who shows an interest in your vision. Here are two tips that will take your elevator pitch all the way to the penthouse.
Tip 1: No matter who you’re pitching to, you’ll have to figure out how the elevator pitch would benefit them. Make sure you deliver at least one benefit they’ll get from doing business with you.
Tip 2: Include something personal to them in the pitch. If you know they went to college at Notre Dame, include Notre Dame’s last win as part of a metaphor in the pitch. If you don’t have time to research them beforehand, observe and learn what you can about them. Are they wearing anything that tells you about their likes? Do they have anything in their office that gives you a clue about that? If so, use it to reach and connect with them!
We’re all in the business of solving other people’s problems. If you customize your pitch to benefit them, they’ll get excited to do business with you.
