How to Let the No go.

We all know it. In business, and in the rest of life, we hear “No.” A lot.

And here’s the funny thing. When someone tells us no, we want to convince them over to yes. And there are times when it’s worth it. In certain negotiations, it’s imperative to get to the “yes.” If you’re responsible for getting hostages released, you’ve got to get to the “yes.” But, most other times? You don’t have to. Instead, you can move on to the next thing.

Don’t try to sell someone who doesn’t want to be sold to. Move on to the one who might say yes. So, in that case, no doesn’t mean no. No means next.

Oh, and don’t feel bad about the no. Don’t let it get you down.

It just means that wasn’t your person. When you find your people, the energy will transform. I’ve had it happen, and it’s magic!

I used to let the “no” distract and upset me. I still sometimes do. But I’m breaking out of it. Because it doesn’t serve me. It distracts me.

There are 7+ billion people on this planet. Not all of them are going to say yes. And of the ones who say no, there are literally billions left who could say yes.

So, change your mindset. Let the No go. When you get a “no,” remind yourself you’re one step closer to the next “yes.”  So, whether you’re in an interview, a sales meeting, or trade negotiation, be willing to move on to the next one. It will make all the difference.
