If you want to get more listeners to your podcast, reach out to the news channels in your area. As part of my interview on stress management for busy people on NewsChannel 8, I got to promote my podcast.
1. Have pitches ready for the producer.
Once you find out who the people are who are the ones to talk to about being on a show, they’ll want pitches relevant to your podcast.
2. Have at least three or four pitches ready that you can talk about for five or six minutes on the air. A lot of places have shows or local human interest segments on their shows. And it’s free PR for you.
3. It will hone your interview skills (both asking and answering). I just did this for my podcast, Tell Your Story Better.
4. And then, of course, you can publish the link to the interview on your website and get that little bit of extra social proof. Remember, local shows want to support local content creators.
