It Starts With One Thing

This One Thing

one thing honestyIt starts with this one thing. I can talk about all the time and energy we all spend talking ourselves into being OK with things we aren’t OK with. Or, I can mention that little voice that’s all but silent. You know the one. It whispers anytime you agree to something you don’t want to do.

We do a ton of stuff out of a sense of obligation. Or, I’ll say it, fear. (That’s a post, or heck, a book, all by itself).

But what if you took a different tack?

What if you stopped and asked yourself this one thing?

Are you ready for it? Here goes.

What if you were honest? With yourself?

You can decide to do it that way. Try it for the next three days.

Ask yourself these two questions and promise yourself you’ll be honest.

  1. Is this best for me?
  2. Is this who I truly want to be?

If you can honestly answer “yes” to both questions, then go and do. But if that little voice speaks up, then your mission is clear. Further, you’ll have to act on it. Maybe not today or even tomorrow. But eventually, you’ll need to take a stand for your right to live your authentic and ingenious life.

Honesty with others is the best policy. Honesty with yourself is critical.

Do you have something you’re noodling over that you want to be honest with yourself about? Want a fresh set of eyes on it? Comment below and let me know.
