Active Speech and Writing Get You What You Want
Here is today’s bonus mini podcast episode. In it, I detail the difference between active and passive speech and writing. You give a lot more information when you use active speech. And your listeners learn a lot more without having to do extra research. If you use this mode of speaking or writing, you’ll be more efficient for sure. Additionally, your listeners or readers will have fewer questions. That’s because you’ll be giving them more meaning bang for their listening bucks.
Don’t do this if you want to remain a mystery to your listeners and readers. Forget about it unless you want to be clear and concise. Do you know what I said in the previous two sentences? Was it easy to understand, or did you have to read them a couple of times over to figure out exactly what I was saying?
See, I tried to be clever. Instead, I was unclear. We often run into trouble when we try to be clever. If we’re speaking live, it’s easier to be more clever because we can use our tone of voice or body language to convey meaning. If we write something down, it’s best to be as clear and concise as possible. That will minimize misunderstandings all around.
And you know what does that? Active voice. Listen to this super short episode to get some simple examples, and then try it. Speak actively, and you’ll see a world of difference.
